Profile
I hold a DPhil (Phd) degree in Computer Science (Cyber Security) from the University of Oxford, UK. Prior to that, I completed a MSc. in Information Security from University College London (UCL), London, UK. Before that, I completed a BSc. on Computer Science, with a second class honour grade from King Abdulaziz University (KAU). Additionally, I have a Diploma in English for Academic Purposes from UCL, UK.
I am passionate about education. With over 17 years of experience (since 2004), I worked in various academic and
administrative position, in multiple institutions, in the general and
higher education, both in the private and public sectors.
During my work in IT departments, I passed several IT career certification exams including: Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), and Computing & Technology Industry Association's A+ (computer maintenance), Network+ (networking), and I-Net+ (Internet and networking).
In addition to my role as an academic, I had some interesting leadership experiences. I am the first Head of Labs and Technical Support Unit at College of Computing & IT at KAU (2008-2011). I had the pleasure to technically train a generation of newly hired technicians at the unit and at the University's Computer Skills Unit. I am happy to be the founding lecturer of the Network Lab in the College of Computing & IT at KAU in 2007. Additionally, I was the Student Activities Chair for the Institute of Electronics and Electrical Engineers (IEEE) in the Westren Saudi region. I also was the Counselor for the KAU IEEE Student Branch. With a group of Engineering College students, I co-founded the IEEE Women In Engineering (WIE) group at KAU.
I received several global awards. I am the recipient of the IEEE Clementina Saduwa Award for women in engineering, and the recipient of the Best Paper Award in the 15th Int. SecureComm conference, and the recipient of the IEEE Exemplary Counselor for my efforts in IEEE KAU Student Branch.
